Randy Carville, a Canadian entrepreneur and avid billiard enthusiast, approached me with an idea born out of a simple, yet widespread challenge faced by billiard players worldwide: the inconvenience of accessing billiard chalk during billiard matches. Drawing from his rich experience and field research, we conceptualized the "Corner Pocket," a wrist-worn magnetic chalk holder designed to redefine the way players store and access their chalk.
At the heart of our collaboration was the ambition to bring Randy's innovative idea to life. Our mission was to design the "Corner Pocket" to be not just a solution to a common problem but also a stylish accessory that billiard players would be proud to wear. This patented accessory is engineered to accommodate various types of billiard chalk, offering unparalleled versatility and ease of use..
The result is a functionally elegant product that caters to the needs and preferences of the billiard playing community. -
Directed the project from a concept idea to a profitable product.
Coordinated and delivered the first manufacturing batch by working with suppliers and optimised the product for manufacturing.

Design Vision
In developing Corner Pocket, the first magnetic wrist-worn billiard chalk holder, our design vision focused on achieving a balance between cost-effectiveness and aesthetic appeal.
We aimed to craft a product that could easily transition from small to large production scales, adaptable enough to include both standard and premium editions without necessitating significant redesigns.
Patented Magnetic Design
Two strong neodymium magnets keep the chalk securely on the wrist – one inside the housing and one in the chalk holder

Effortless Removal
Sliding the chalk holder sideways allows for simple and ergonomic removal, despite the strong magnetic grip
Attach Without Aiming
The magnetic field reaches about 5 cm away from the housing, which pulls the chalk holder precisely to the middle without aiming.
Easy Chalk Swap
Inserting the chalk is easy and it is securely held by friction.
Removal is simple by pushing out the magnet and chalk through the bottom opening with a billiard cue.

Design Semiotics
The form language draws inspiration from the details of billiard tables and wristwatches, embedding semiotic details and symbolic meaning into the design.
The shape and finishing of the housing denotes the sturdy exterior frame of a billiard table.
The insert's form, color, and textured finish denote a billiard table’s fabric-covered playing surface and rail cushions.
The magnet cap’s dark silhouette, enhanced by subtle debossed graphics, denotes the depth and shadow of a pocket on a billiard table.
